With the growing range of gadgets and appliances we buy, it becomes hard at some point to keep track of all our warranties. Warrantify is a Bangalore based startup that looks to remedy that by helping customers maintain all the warranties in a single place. There are two ways to upload the warranties. First way is to scan the paper warranty and upload from phone or PC. Second, way is to directly connect during digital checkout while online shopping at partner sites. They target India and US customers. Their business model is to charge a transaction fee for retailers and promote up-selling through their website.
They have just opened up their service on June 5th 2011, and it would be interesting to see how many retail customers they could rope in. A lot of big retailers in the US and elsewhere are already going in for digital receipts and it is not clear if they would pay a transaction fee to partner with Warrantify. I think it is going to be a tough nut to crack in India convincing the retailers to pay a fee.
